Kate founded The Ginger Jar Lamp Co. in 2016, after a ‘light bulb’ moment during a trip to China with girlfriends. She discovered piles of dusty ginger jars at an antiques market & decided to make one into a lamp – the rest is history.<\/p>\n

As an interiors enthusiast, she is passionate about unique, authentic, hand-made ceramics & fabrics & is also a huge fan of ever-elegant blue & white.<\/p>\n

Kate was thrilled to discover the unique history of the humble ginger jar, from its ancient origins as a vessel for exporting spices to the West, to becoming a much sought-after decorative item in its own right.<\/p>\n

The vintage jars The Ginger Jar Lamp Co. sources are from hand-made stock, created following centuries-old traditions. Their ornate designs feature auspicious characters & motifs & are a piece of China’s rich arts & trading history.<\/p>\n

Kate loves to create contemporary classics from these pieces, by combining them with vibrant artisan lamp shades. The result is a lamp that is limited-edition & truly unique – a future heirloom that can be treasured for years to come.<\/p>\n

Furnishing her own home with treasures that are made to last & tell a story of travels & special times, Kate likes to think of these lamps doing the same – often bought as a gift, a memento or to celebrate life’s milestones.<\/p>\n
