HISTORY
Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts grew out of what was originally known as the Indian National Theatre in 1950. Since then, we’ve grown to be a landmark in Delhi’s theatre circuit. Today it is an independent cultural society committed to promote arts & culture as well as nurture talents in the field of performing arts. We are devoted to preserve Hindi theatre along with other forms of globally recognized performing arts.
FESTIVALS
Every year SRCPA conducts various forms of Festivals to celebrate the many forms of Performing Arts. Connections festival brings to Delhi a variety of spectacles featuring different art forms and genres. Swami Hari das Tansen Sangeet Nritya Mahotsav revives and spreads the heritage towards a cultural ‘renaissance’ and resuscitation of the musical ethos. Shri Ram Kavi Sammelam brings together the finest literatures and renowned poets under one roof. Panna Bharat Ram Theatre Festival, Sumer Theatre festival and Children Theatre Festival showcase the best productions of SRCPA Repertory, SRCPA Students and Children theatre productions.
COURSES
SRCPA brings comprehensive programs for enhancing theatre related skills. We provide workshops that cater to the need of every age group like one year acting program for experienced actors, weekend programs for working professionals, summer workshops for school children, weekday workshops for those who want to pursue theatre as their hobby and theatre director’s training program for budding directors. Students get an opportunity to perform in a stage production as part of their program. We also train theatre practitioners in niche programs like Voice and Speech training and Light designing workshops.
REPERTORY COMPANY
Since 1980’s Shri Ram centre’s repertory (resident theatre company) has staged a galaxy of plays of eminent playwrights & directors. Every year SRCPA produces new plays for the theatre enthusiasts in Hindi and English. Our festivals showcase an exciting blend of contemporary & classic plays and other performing arts forms.
